The objective of this Educational Module is to measure the Hall voltage to determine the Hall coefficient of Cu, a monovalent metal. Hall voltage in metals is typically quite small (~microvolts for reasonable values of the applied current and magnetic field), but is easily measured using VersaLab with ETO. This Educational Module will familiarize students with basic properties of simple metals and technical aspects of using the VersaLab/ETO to make small signal transport measurements. In addition, students will learn basic aspects of sample handling, soldering, and data acquisition and analysis.
